Mallory B. Winstead of Ridgely Maryland passed away peacefully on September 7,2024 surrounded by his family at the UM Shore Medical Center in Chestertown, MD.
Born August 1,1938, he was the son of the late Mallory B. Winstead and Florence Knott Winstead. Mallory was a 1956 graduate of Ridgely High School. He served in the US Army with the 25th Infantry Division from 1956 to 1959. Following his release from active duty he worked as the USPFO National Guard Army for 25 years.
Mallory married the love of his life, Mary Lou Gibson of Queen Anne to whom he was married for 65 years. In 1983, Mr. Winstead became a residential electrician and worked for various firms until 1992, when he and his son Mark formed Winstead Electric. He continued electrical work until his retirement in February 2001. He enjoyed horseback and motorcycle riding. He also had a passion for woodworking, and he loved goose hunting with his son Chris. Mostly, he loved spending time with all his family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Winstead was predeceased by his sister Linda Winstead Hoffmaster, his eldest son Michael Christopher Winstead Sr., and his son-in-law Dan Lane. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Gibson Winstead; his sister, Rebecca Wade (John) of Denton; one daughter, Mary Faye Lane of Cordova; a daughter-in-law, Vicki J Winstead of Ridgely; a son, Mallory Kevin Winstead (Debbie) of Queen Anne and son, Mark A. Winstead (Tracy) of Cordova; two granddaughters, Kristi and Jessica; six grandsons: Matthew, Mallory, Michael, Danny, Mitchell and Jacob; three great granddaughters: Nevaeh, Shelby, Evelyn; and nine great grandsons: Barrett, Christopher, Cole, Reese, Clayton, Mallory, Myckey, Marshall and Marcus.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, September 12th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. Second Street in Denton where friends may call from 10 until 11 before the service. The interment will follow in the Ridgely Cemetery in Ridgely.
