Mark Edward Cassidy of Denton, MD, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 66 years old.
Born in Alexandria, VA. Mark was the son of the late Ronald Lewis Cassidy and Marie Elizabeth Hannus Cassidy. He was a 1974 graduate of North Caroline High School.
Mark had worked as a production manager for Wheaton Tubing in Easton, MD. He then worked as a contractor for many years with his sons at Marvel Painting and Remodeling from which he retired in 2022. His work as a painter and carpenter can be found all around his life and in the homes of many he knew and loved. An accomplished musician, Mark played his guitar and sang with his band, Sweet Sunny South, and for special occasions such as church events. He was a member of St. Benedict’s/St. Elizabeth’s Roman Catholic Church Parish in Denton and Ridgely, MD, and devoted much of his time to the life of the parish, including teaching religious education classes, performing hymns and accompanying services, and volunteering his time with those in need. An avid gardener, Mark was always proud to show off his beautiful and expansive plots of vegetables, fruits, and flowers. In addition to growing food, Mark was a talented cook who delighted in preparing dishes made with his garden-fresh produce, bringing the comfort of home-cooking to those he loved. Most of all, Mark loved spending time with and supporting his family. He played a tremendous role in supporting his children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews in both the mundane occurrences of everyday, as well as the momentous occasions and milestones at every stage of life. A true family man, Mark could be counted upon in any hour of need, and his expansive love enveloped all of his kin with unflinching kindness, acceptance, and warmth. At the heart of Mark's life was his deep love of God and the joy that came from knowing Jesus through prayer and the Sacraments.
