Marvin MacDonald, Sr. of Greensboro, MD, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Compass Hospice in Centreville, MD. He was 85 years old.
Born at home near Denton on August 27, 1937, Mr. MacDonald was the son of the late Donald MacDonald and Elizabeth Virginia Masten MacDonald. He was a 1955 graduate of Caroline High School in Denton.
Mr. MacDonald was the Purchasing Director of the Caroline County, MD Public Works, retiring after 54 years from a job he loved, while raising chickens with Perdue Farms. He was a past member of the Denton Jaycees and the Choptank Ruritan. He also enjoyed shooting skeet, watching westerns, car racing, reading, the Ravens and the Orioles. Most of all, he loved his wife and children dearly.
Mr. MacDonald is survived by his wife of 62 years, Norma Jean Griffith MacDonald of Greensboro; two daughters, Colleen Harrison (Kenny) of Concord, NH and Kim Brogley (Kevin) of Greensboro; a son, Marvin MacDonald, Jr. (Bobbi Jo) of Winter Garden, FL; three grandchildren: Joshua Harrison, Lauren Brogley, and Brooke MacDonald; a great granddaughter, Eloise Harrison; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a baby son, Wayne Douglas MacDonald in 1963; a sister, Elva Van Schaik; and a brother, Donald MacDonald.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 5th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. Second Street in Denton where friends may call from 10 until 11 before the service. The interment will follow in the Denton Cemetery.
