Mary Ellen Breeding

     Mary Ellen Breeding of Hickman, near Denton, MD, passed away at the Compass Hospice in Centreville, MD on Saturday, May 1, 2021. She was 95 years old.

     Born in Denton in 1925, Mrs. Breeding was the daughter of the late James Medford Walls and Sara Hazel Parks Walls. Her husband, O.E. Breeding, Sr., died August 3, 2006.

     Mrs. Breeding lived in the mid-shore area all of her life and graduated in 1943 from Easton High School. For fifty years, she was the Bookkeeper for O.E. Breeding & Sons in Hickman. She was a member of the Classic Car Club and the Milford, DE Bowling League. She was an avid baseball fan from Little League to the Big Leagues and was a Dale Earnhardt NASCAR fan. She loved humming birds and attended the AMES United Methodist Church in Hobbs near Denton.

     Mrs. Breeding is survived by a daughter, Barbara E. Smith (Jim) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two sons: J. Richard “Rick” Breeding (Karen) of Denton and Terry L. Breeding (Sharon) of Hickman. She was preceded in death by a son, O.E. “Eddie” Breeding (Bonnie) on May 6, 2018. She is also survived by three sisters: Pauline “Polly” Layton of Denton, Christine Anthony and Barbara Salizzoni, both of Dover, DE; seven grandchildren: Jamie Smith, Mark E. Breeding (Christa), Rob M. Breeding (Christine), Travis Breeding (Rachel), Tyler Breeding (Robin), Trey Breeding, and Jessica Breeding Robichaux (Jeff); twelve great grandchildren: Lauren Breeding Winstead (Michael), Ryan Breeding, Skylar Breeding Elburn (Garrett), Justin Breeding, Julian Harrington, Trent Breeding, Trace Breeding, Rilyn Breeding, Aiden Robichaux, AnnaGrace Robichaux, Kit Ellen Breeding, and Errol Breeding; four great- great grandchildren: Christopher Winstead, Cole Winstead, Clayton Winstead, and Ethan Elburn; a sister-in-law, Thelma Walls; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her son, Eddie, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda “Mandy” Harrington; a sister, Louise Spencer; and four brothers: Medford Walls, Jr., Charles Walls, Tommy Walls, and Louis Walls.

     Funeral services will be 12 Noon on Wednesday, May 5th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. Second Street in Denton where friends may visit from 6 until 8 on Tuesday evening. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery.
