Mary Katherine "Kathy" (Adams) Miller

Mary Katherine “Kathy” (Adams) Miller, 78, of Chester, Maryland, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, in hospice care following a long illness.

Born on October 28, 1947, in Washington, D.C., Kathy was the eldest of ten children born to the late John “Tree” and Rosemary (Healy) Adams. Growing up in Bethesda, Maryland, she attended primary school at Our Lady of Lourdes and Little Flower School, later graduating from Walt Whitman High School. As a young girl, Kathy cherished the simple joys of spending summer visits on her grandparents’ farm in Little Rock, Arkansas.

In 1967, Kathy married Joseph “Joe” Connick, and together they welcomed her eldest daughter, Susan. Later in life, Kathy united in marriage with Jerry Wayne Miller of South Charleston, West Virginia, in 1974. Their family grew with the blessing of twins, Archie and Mary, and they opened their hearts and home to welcome Michelle Wilcox into their family circle.

Kathy and Jerry shared a deep companionship until his passing in 2016. Jerry was a proud Vietnam War veteran who honorably served two tours of duty. After a decade apart, Kathy and Jerry will now be laid to rest together, reunited at last. Family and friends will also gather to celebrate Jerry’s life and service alongside Kathy’s at the reception following the Mass.

Throughout her life, Kathy was defined by her unwavering Catholic faith, incredible selflessness, and a spirit of quiet sacrifice. She possessed an unmatched devotion to serving others, always putting the needs of her family, friends, and community before her own. Above all, her world revolved around her family. She delighted in her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of love for her 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Wayne Miller; her parents, John “Tree” and Rosemary Adams; her brothers, John “Tree” Adams Jr. and Thomas W. Adams; and her sister, Agnes Ann Adams.

She is survived by her devoted children: Susan (Robert), Archie (Brandi), Mary, and Michelle (Tony); her 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; her aunt, Margaret Healy; and her six siblings: Theresa Plummer (James), Patricia Sullivan (Terry), Rosemary Adams, James Francis Adams, Margaret “Peggy” Lewis (Robert), and Joan Marks (Scott); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who will deeply miss her gentle presence.

There will be a Rosary at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30th at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Chester, Maryland. A reception celebrating both Kathy and Jerry will follow.
