Mr. Burroughs worked as the Compliance Manager for Xactus, LLC (formerly Credit Plus) in Salisbury, Maryland. He thoroughly enjoyed sports of all kind, but was often quoted saying "racing is my life" and could easily be found on any given weekend, with his father at a local track. Matthew had a passion for writing, a love for animals and a commitment to supporting others. His witty humor and genuine personality often brought joy to those around him. He was a loving and devoted husband, son, and "daddy" to his beloved family pets.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents: William and Alicia Milligan; paternal grandparents: Flora and George Burroughs.
The family has chosen to keep the services private.

"I thought of you with love today but that is nothing new, I thought about you yesterday and days before that too. I think of you in silence I often speak your name, All I have are memories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is my keepsake with which I'll never part, God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart..."
