Michael Ralph Fry, 71, of Ridgely, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Compass Hospice in Centreville, MD. Born February 27, 1954, in Lewistown, PA, he was the beloved son of the late Ralph Henry Fry and Inez Eaton Fry.
Michael, affectionately known as Mikey, Mike, or Scooter, will be remembered for his kind soul, a heart of gold and a spirited personality that shone brightly throughout his life. His childhood shared between PA and MD was filled with playful adventures – from the occasional mischievous streaking through town to a memorable (and slightly less advisable) attempt to warm himself on a school bus. He graduated from East Juniata High School in McAlisterville, PA in 1972, with a Machinist certificate and soon thereafter moved permanently to Denton, Maryland.
Mike built a life marked by hard work and deep family connections. His career spanned various fields, including Snap-On Tools and Waste Management, until his retirement. He was a dedicated member of the Ames United Methodist Church of Denton, a 33rd Degree Master Mason of Masonic Temple Lodge #128, a Shriner, and active member of American Legion Post 29, Moose Lodge #534 and AmVets Post 122. His volunteering within the community reflected his generous spirit.
Mike’s greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by his two daughters: Shannon Williamson and her husband, John, of Hebron, Maryland; and Monica Fry and S/O Myles Murray of Arab, Alabama; five cherished grandchildren: Braxton, Tyler, Mason, Colin, and Logan; two sisters: Vickie Liske and her husband, Phil, and Tonya Hotaling and her husband, Scott. As Well as cherished nieces and nephews Dale Pinder, Marcy Blazejak, Brooke Goodling, Colin Breeding, Colby Breeding, their children and many beloved cousins.
He had a passion for working on cars from hot rods in his home garage, Model Ts alongside his late father, and race cars with his life long friends. For many years he spent time as part of the pit crew for his friends at dirt tracks in multiple states. He would help his father sell and collect parts to rebuild and repair anything that had a motor. And he allowed his daughters to watch in wonder and hand him tools as he recreated beautiful street racers of the past. Other past times were enjoyed as a gun enthusiast, sporting clay shooting, hunting and fishing or cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers or football team.
Being a dad was one of his most cherished roles. He always made time for fishing trips, watching and coaching softball or being the loudest supporter of cheerleading competitions. He made sure anyone he spoke to knew how proud he was of his family.
Later in life the camaraderie he found with his many friends at the Legion, Moose Lodge and the CCYC filled his life with warmth and connection. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Friends may call and share memories with the family from 12Noon to 1PM on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. 2nd St., Denton, MD. A memorial service will follow at 1PM beginning with a Masonic service. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Michael’s memory be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607 or lovetotherescure/donate.com.
Mike's warm presence and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
