Michael (Mike) Thomas Towers of Denton, Maryland passed away at Anne Arundel Medical Center on April 24, 2021 at the age of 67. Mike was surrounded by his wife and children during his final moments.
Born in Easton, Maryland, Michael is the son of Phyllis A. Towers and the late Mervin V. Towers. Mike is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 48 years, Cindy L. Towers of Denton, Maryland; his daughter, Sherri Wood (Wesley) of Harrington, Delaware; his son Jonathan Towers (Shelly) of Federalsburg, Maryland; one brother, Jeffrey Towers of Elkton, Maryland and one sister, Victoria Williamson of Preston, Maryland. Mr. Towers was blessed with 4 granddaughters that were his world; Riley, Elle and Malory Wood and Irie Towers. Mr. Towers was preceded in death by one loving, special brother that was near and dear to his heart, M. Grant Towers.
Mike was employed with G.L. Hollingsworth Trucking for 22 years and recently retired on April 6, 2021. Mr. Towers was a life time member of the Denton Volunteer Fire Department and served as president for three years. He loved collecting John Deere memorabilia and rebuilding his antique John Deere tractor. His favorite activity was to travel with his wife in their camper. He looked forward to the community dinners and campfire stories with all their close friends and was always encouraged to bring his homemade ice-cream for everyone. Mike always insisted that granddaughters come along on these adventures. He was a family man, cherished his friends and enjoyed working with such great people.
Viewing and service will be held at the Denton Church of Nazarene. Viewing is Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Service will be Friday, April 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Towers, Jeffrey Towers, Bryan Towers, Robert Fearins, Roger Gsell, Wesley Wood and honorary pall bearer is Gordon Hollingsworth. Pastor Paul Merrit will be leading the services.
