Mildred Hostetter Obituary

Mildred Good Hostetter, of Preston MD, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Compass Regional Hospice in Centerville MD. She was 92 years old.

Born at home in College Park MD, on December 19, 1930, ‘Millie’ was the daughter and youngest child of the late Walter Franklin Good Sr. and Ethel Alden Good of College Park Maryland. She was predeceased by her three older brothers: Walter Franklin Good Jr., Joseph Elwood Good, and Grant Alden Good.

Growing up in College Park, MD, Millie attended The University of Maryland as an art student and later worked at the university as a secretary for the Office of the US Army. In January of 1952, she became a devoted wife to George James Hostetter Sr. of Roanoke VA, and eventually the loving mother of three boys: George James Hostetter Jr., Stephen Alden Hostetter, and Bryan Kent Hostetter.

God, country, and family meant everything to Millie as she and George raised their family for more than 39 years in Howard County MD. She loved animals, camping, and the great outdoors. She loved cookouts with her brothers and with the families of her lifelong friends. Her love of painting and crafting has left beautiful memories on the walls and warm, crocheted blankets on every bed.

Millie and George moved to Caroline County 16 years ago where George passed away in August of 2019. She was also predeceased by her oldest son: George James Hostetter Jr. of West Yellowstone Montana but is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law: Stephen Alden Hostetter and his wife Cathy of Churchton, MD, Patti Susan Hostetter of West Yellowstone MT, and Bryan Kent Hostetter of Catonsville, MD.

Millie is also survived by three grandchildren: Tammy Lynn Hostetter of Lothian MD, Joshua James Hostetter of West Yellowstone MT, and Jeremy Cooper Hostetter of Bozeman MT, and she was blessed with three beautiful great grandchildren plus one great, great grandson.

Memorial services will be held privately at the Crownsville MD Veterans Cemetery where both George and Mildred will be interred together as they wished.
