Nancy Lee Harrington, age 75, of Ridgely, MD, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 19th, 2025. She was born on September 1, 1949, in Baltimore, MD, to the late George and Nancy Klapka. Nancy was a graduate of Severna Park High School in 1967.
Nancy loved the beach and cherished her time volunteering with the Lion’s Club and Girl Scouts. Her favorite tradition was the annual beach vacation on 140th Street, where she created lasting memories with family and friends. A devoted fan, she cheered for the Ravens every Sunday and spent summer evenings rooting for the Orioles.
In her early years, Nancy loved dancing with her sister and friends—and was known to "cut a rug" with Hap Sr. She was a selfless and dedicated mother, always present: volunteering at school, serving as the “team mom” for nearly every sport, and tirelessly driving kids to and from practices and games. Nancy's giving spirit continued through her long-standing service with the Girl Scouts, earning a 10-year Service Pin and multiple leadership awards. Her deep love for family continued into retirement age, which she shared with Hap. Together, they enjoyed casino trips, cocktails at the beach with friends, and visiting their beloved grandchildren in Wisconsin.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, George Sr. and Nancy Klapka, and her brother, George Klapka Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband, Hap Harrington Sr.; her son, Hap Harrington Jr., and his wife Kelley; her stepdaughter, Heather Harrington; her grandchildren Rhett Harrington, Chase Harrington, Madison Anichini, Bethany Harrington, Emily Harrington, and Sydney Harrington; and her sister, Mary Ann Moreland, and her husband Richard Moreland.
A private event will be held to celebrate the life of Nancy Harrington. In honor of her giving spirit, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“Forever in our hearts.”
