Oscar N. Maloney, 71, passed away on September 22nd, with his loving family holding his hands. Oscar was the son of Benjamin E. Maloney and Pauline V. Taylor Maloney.
Oscar lived his entire life on the family farm in American Corner. He worked as an auto mechanic and a Service Writer for Smith Ford in Denton for 29 years, Connelly’s for 6 years in Denton, and finished his career in February 2020 after 14 years at Rob’s Quality Car Care in Ridgely with retirement due to health reasons.
Oscar enjoyed helping others to get their car repaired. He was excellent at diagnosing car problems. He cared about people and was very honest. He enjoyed conversations with his customers. In addition to his long career in auto service, he enjoyed farming.
He was an avid hunter, especially deer and ground hogs. His motto for ground hog hunting was “Call me any day. Your problem is my pleasure”. His free ground hog removal service was called, Hog B Gone. He was a member of the Marshyhope Rod & Gun Club, Eastern Shore Threshermen and Collectors Association, Rough and Tumble Engineers Historical Association, and the National Wild Turkey Federation.
Oscar is survived by his devoted wife and caregiver, Joan Adams Maloney; his daughter, Jami Allen (Chad); two granddaughters, Emily and Kelsey Allen of Alabama; and a sister, Millicent Maloney of Preston.
A memorial service will be held at 7 PM on Wednesday, October 1st, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. in Denton where there will be a visitation from 5 to 7 before the service. The interment will be private.
