Paul Turbitt, Sr. Obituary

Paul C. Turbitt, Sr of Hurlock, Md passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was 80 years old.
He was born the son of Bryan F. Turbitt, Sr and Eleanor Greenhawk Turbitt. 
He married Carol Ann Nordberg on June 9, 1976, and together they made their home in Neavitt, MD before moving to Seaford, DE. Most recently, they lived in Hurlock, MD. Paul attended Ridgely High School before joining the United States Army as a Military Police Officer stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1962. He returned home and worked as a truck driver where he spent the majority of his career. He worked for Haines Holt in Federalsburg, MD, Wheatley Trucking in Cambridge, MD, Blue Hen Lines in Milford, DE, and DOS Transportation in Seaford, DE. He partially retired around 2006 and transitioned to a dispatcher at DOS Transportation where he worked until his retirement for medical reasons. 
Paul was extremely knowledgeable about maps and could give directions to anywhere in the United States by memory. He was a huge Nascar fan and enjoyed watching NFL football, especially the Washington Football Team. He loved a shiny clean Kenworth and often joked that his favorite color was chrome. 
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol A. Turbitt; five daughters, Catherine Shiver (David) of Batesville, MS, Eleanor Osgood (Tony) of Slidell, LA, Melinda Kohlhaas (Brian) of Milton, FL, Mandy Willey (Curtis) of Batesville, MS, and Jennifer Wade (John) of Easton, MD; two sons, Paul C. Turbitt, Jr (Carolyn) of Preston, MD, and Jason Walbert (Mialisa) of St. Michaels, MD; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Turbitt (Linda) of Laurel, DE and James Turbitt of Seaford, DE; sisters-in-law, Dinah Smith (Rusty) of Linkwood, MD, Linda Andrew (Charles) of Denton, MD, Darlene Cannon (Ron) of Preston, MD, and Eileen Turbitt of Federalsburg, MD; and many nieces and nephews. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Billie, Pat, and Linda, his brother Bryan Turbitt, and a grandson, EJ Merrick.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 2, 2002, at 10:45 AM from the Moore Funeral Home located at 12 S. 2nd St. Denton, MD. Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 10:45 AM before the service. Committal will be in the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, MD. 
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Coastal Hospice PO Box 1733 Salisbury, MD 21802 . The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Coastal Hospice for all of their care and concern over the last few weeks. We will be forever grateful.
