Phyllis B. Fair

     The family of Phyllis Butler Fair of Pocomoke, MD is saddened to announce her passing on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on November 19,1935 at home on the Butler farm in Pocomoke, she was the daughter of the late W. Marion Butler and Mabel Culver Butler.

     Phyllis graduated from Pocomoke High School in 1953 where she was an avid basketball player. On April 16, 1955 she married “the love of her life”, Freddie Ray Fair Sr. from Herd, Oklahoma. Together they owned and operated Fair’s Tv Furniture and Appliances from 1968 to 2008 when they retired.

     Phyllis is survived by her husband, Fred of 69 years; one daughter, Terry Tribbett and her husband, David of Denton, MD.; one son, Ray Fair and his wife Faye of Pocomoke, MD.; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; one sister-in -law, Mary “Jimmy” Butler and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

     In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her two brothers, Marion Linwood Butler Sr. and James Allen Butler Sr.; two sisters, Virginia B. Merritt and Minnie Dashiell; two half- sisters, Dorothy and Florence and one half-brother Arthur Butler.

     Phyllis devoted her life to her family and thoroughly enjoyed each and everyone of them. Her favorite saying was “Everything happens for a reason”. She loved turtles, antiquing, Longaberger, Hallmark and Christmas. Ask anyone in her family if they believe in Santa and the answer will be yes! She always said “when you stop believing in Santa, Santa will not come any more”. Her family will always believe.

     She will be truly missed but never forgotten by anyone who ever met her.

     A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date for Phyllis and Fred together as they requested.
