Raymond P. Butler, Sr. passed away on Monday, November 4, 2024, at UF Health The Villages Hospital, The Villages, FL with his family by his side. Born on July 17, 1949, in Cordova, MD, he was the son of the late Raymond B. Butler and Helen Harris Butler.
Ray attended school in Caroline and Talbot Counties. He started early in life assisting his father as a dairy herdsman. He was a caretaker for several farms in the area and worked for Talbot County at Hog Neck Golf Course for many years. He finished out his employment years at Choptank Electric Cooperative where he held several positions ending as an Engineering Fieldman. He was a member of the Harrington Moose, The Villages Straight Shooters, and past member of the Choptank River Yacht Club. In his retirement years he enjoyed golfing, shooting sports clays, and pitching horseshoes.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline B. Butler; his daughter, Michelle Butler Wood (Chris) and his son, Raymond P. Butler, Jr. (Jaytawn); six grandchildren: Allan Blessing, C.J. Wood, Kaitin Butler, Madison Butler, Jacob Butler, and Dylan Butler; three great grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Butler; a son, Brad S. Butler; a daughter, Kelly L. Shockley; and a brother, Addison P. Andrew.
A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, December 12th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. Second Street in Denton where friends may visit with family from 11 until 12 Noon before the service. The burial will be in Denton Cemetery.
