Rev. Dr. Susan M. Schmidt of Denton, MD, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 75 years old.
Born on November 1, 1949, Dr. Schmidt was the daughter of the late Fergus Waldo Manuel and Martha Emma MacLeod. She married her husband, Jake Schmidt of Denton, on October 26, 1994.
Dr. Schmidt attained her Doctor of Theology at Grace Bible College and Seminary. She was the Caring Ministries Pastor at the First United Methodist Church in Stuart, FL, retiring in 2016. Prior to becoming a pastor, she worked for FEMA helping with disaster relief, and also a counselor for abused women, as she had a passion to help people in need. But, most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved and cared deeply for her family.
Dr. Schmidt is survived by her husband, Jacob R. Schmidt, Jr. of Denton; one son, Steven Mindick (Elizabeth); and four daughters: Suzanne M. Reinhold (Dale), Brandy M. Mindick, Amanda R. Mindick, and Sarah P. Raulerson (Danny); ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be private. If friends want to donate to a charity in Memory of Mrs. Schmidt, the family suggests sending them to the Caroline County Humane Society, 407 W. Belle St., Ridgely, MD 21660.
