Richard "Dick" Fortner

     J. Richard “Dick” Fortner of Denton, MD passed away at the Caroline Nursing Home in Denton on Friday, March 20, 2020. He was 82 years old.

     Born in Huntington, WV on February 7, 1938, Mr. Fortner was the son of the late Walker Fortner and Rhoda Perry Fortner. He and his wife, Brenda Fortner, moved to Denton with their family in 1970. They purchased Ed Henry’s Garage on Third Street in Denton in 1975. They operated it as Dick’s Sunoco and Dick’s Garage for many years before retiring to his home where he continued to work. When he could, he loved to play golf.

     Mr. Fortner is survived by his wife, Brenda Fortner of Denton; two sons, Charles Edward “Bubby” Fortner of Ocean View, DE and David Richard Fortner of Denton; and one grandson, Christopher James Fortner. Mr. Fortner was the last surviving sibling of a family of six girls and five boys.
