Richard C. Ranieri, Jr. passed away on March 14, 2018 at the age of 72. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle, and his beloved children, Christopher and Kimberly, as well as grandchildren, Nicky and Abigail. He was predeceased by son, Nicholas, sister, Michele, and his mother and father.
Richard was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on November 11, 1945 to Richard Sr. and Frances Ranieri.
He served in the Navy as an electrician from 1963 to 1966.
He attended West Virginia University and received a Bachelor's degree in Special Education and a Master's degree in Educational Administration.
Richard spent his career as a special educator both in West Virginia and Maryland. He was a dedicated and compassionate teacher who inspired many students throughout his years of teaching.
He was also a leader in implementing innovative educational practices, as well as serving on various committees in a leadership capacity.
Richard loved to travel, especially in the camper. Both Rich and Michelle took numerous trips, especially to Assateague National Seashore. The ocean was a place that brought much enjoyment and peace to Richard.
Rich had a great sense of humor as family and friends can testify. He has impacted many lives and will be sorely missed.
A celebration of Richard's life is planned for May 2018, with a specific date to follow.
