Rita Marie Hixon

     Rita Marie Hixon of Cambridge, MD, passed away peacefully at her parents’ home in Denton, MD on Thursday, December 24, 2020. She was 55 years old.

     Born in Easton, MD on May 19, 1965, Ms. Hixon was the daughter of Earle P. Wood, Sr. and Jane Callahan Wood. She was a 1983 graduate of North Caroline High School. Ms. Hixon had been a Food Director for various Nursing Facilities on Delmarva until retiring several years ago because of health. She enjoyed her family, fishing, hunting, baking, crocheting, and cooking. She especially enjoyed taking trips to Maine. In addition to her parents,

     Ms. Hixon is survived by two daughters, Julia E. Bledsoe (Tyler) of Denton and Kate J. Laramore of Denton; three brothers: Earle Wood, Jr. (Donna) of Denton, Chris Wood (Michelle) of Bozman, and Gregory Wood (Kim) of Marydel, MD; five grandchildren: Kaiden, Zarren, Jordan, Jace, and Jaxon; her fiancé, Ken Kunz of Cambridge, MD; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, December 31st, at the St. Elizabeth’s Roman Catholic Church on First Street in Denton. The interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery near Greensboro, MD.
