Robert K. Bowman passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018, at the UMSMC in Easton, MD. He was 91 years old.
Born in Ridgely, MD on July 18, 1927, Mr. Bowman was the son of Edward Henry Bowman, Sr. and Grace Holsinger Bowman. His wife, Betty Lynch Bowman, died March 13, 1993.
A graduate of Ridgely High School, Mr. Bowman served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army in 1945. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Caroline American Legion Post 29 in Denton. He served in many Post, Country, and District offices of the American Legion and was elected State Commander in 1991.
Mr. Bowman is survived by one daughter, Linda Myers and her husband Ted of Temple, TX; one son, Robert E. Bowman and wife Vicky of Bradenton, FL; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two step daughters: Beverly Ringgold of Greensboro, MD and Audrey Zitto of Felton, DE; a brother-in-law, Stephen Lynch and his wife Barbara of Georgetown, DE and a sister-in-law, Barbara Ellis and her husband Chris of Hampton Cove, AL. In addition, he leaves behind his long-time companion and friend, Sue Gallagher and her family. In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by two sons, Steven (Todd) Bennett and Martin E. Bowman; his sister, Thelma Baker of Denton and his brother, Edward Bowman of Easton.
An American Legion Memorial Service will start at 1 PM on Monday, October 8th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. 2nd Street in Denton immediately followed by the funeral services. There will be a viewing/visitation from 12 until 1 before the service. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery.
