Robin L. Murphy of Preston, MD, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the University of MD Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. She was 66 years old.
Born in Easton, MD on May 31, 1957, Mrs. Murphy was the daughter of the late Leroy Lord of Preston and Nellie Patchett of Kuna, ID. She was a 1975 graduate of Colonel Richardson High School.
Robin dedicated her life to supporting her son Michael with Cerebral Palsey and in doing so was an advocate for many children and families with disabilities. She was a pioneer in developing services and activities that made the lives of those with disabilities better. In 1994, she was instrumental in establishing the Mid-Shore Challengers, Inc. that enabled children with disabilities to enjoy sports and social activities with their families. Her efforts to make the lives of children with disabilities better have impacted hundreds of families on the Mid Shore.
Above all else Robin was a loving wife and mother.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by her husband, Michael E. Murphy of Preston; two sons, Michael E. Murphy, II of Preston and Luke Belonga of Holmdel, NJ; a daughter, Page Murphy of Preston; a granddaughter, Alexis Tuttle of Henderson; three sisters: Hope Chaplain of Preston, Trudy Coleman of Boise, ID, and Elizabeth Sattelmaier of Kuna, ID; and step siblings: Debbie Lord Guessford of Federalsburg, and James Michael Kennedy, Sr of Preston. She was preceded in death by a sister, Angie Vaughn.
A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, December 16th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton, MD where friends may visit from 10 until 12 before the service. The interment will be in the Concord Cemetery.
