Ronald Gene Prouse

     Ronald Gene Prouse of Denton, MD, passed away at Compass Hospice in Centreville, MD on Thursday, November 16, 2023. He was 76 years old.

     Born in Salisbury, MD on December 7, 1946, Mr. Prouse was the son of the late Clarence Willard Prouse and Beulah Mae Ellis Prouse Brumley, and stepson of the late Charles Gordon Brumley. He was a 1964 graduate of Mardela High School and later received his B.S in Business Management from LaSalle University.

     Mr. Prouse had an extensive career in all aspects of the poultry industry. He worked for multiple industry giants such as Purdue, Tyson and Cagle’s Keystone. He started simply by hanging live chickens, working his way to General Plant Manager, Complex Manager, building and designing complexes and developing fuel alternatives for the industry. He also had his 50 Ton Master Captain’s License and had operated a Charter Service in Deale Island, MD. Mr. Prouse enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a lifelong Bama college football fan. He was an avid reader and a “wordsmith”, was a Methodist Lay Speaker, and loved to sing and play guitar. A wonderful and faithful husband, father, and grandfather, he was a great mentor to his family and friends.

     Mr. Prouse is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Melody J. Prouse of Denton; three daughters, Ronda L. Lavoie (David) of Terre Hill, PA and Laurie A. Dickson (Roland) of Pageland, SC and Amy Prouse Burns (Daniel) of Blountsville, AL; one son, Donnie Wayne Prouse Bullard (Shelly)of Cullman, AL; two sisters, Linda Wright (Larry) of Denton and Lois Woernle (Ron) of Beaufort, SC; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, And numerous nieces and nephews.

     The family will hold a celebration of Mr. Prouse’s life at a time to be announced later. If friends would like to send memorial donations in memory of Mr. Prouse, the family suggests sending them to Compass Hospice, 160 Coursevall Dr., Centreville, MD 21617.

     In recognition of Mr. Prouse’s deep faith, the family would like this obituary to close with the 23rd Psalm:

The lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.  He leadeth me beside still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.  Thou anointest my head with oil.  My cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
