Ruth J. Moore

     Ruth Ann Jones Moore of Denton, Maryland, passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 86 years old. Born in Dover, DE, on March 27, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Clifton Jones, Sr., and Edith Emily Nelson Jones.

     Ruth grew up on a farm in the Sudlersville area, graduating from Sudlersville High School in 1956. She met the love of her life, Jack, at Tolchester Amusement Park and they were later married March 12, 1960. During her life, Ruth enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, and most recently a great-grandmother. In addition to spending time with her family and friends she found pleasure in gardening, cooking, crabbing, playing cards, and going to the casino. She also enjoyed the beach and vacationing, which included visiting all 50 states during her lifetime. She was a long time member of St. Luke’s Church in Denton. Ruth retired from the Caroline County Health Dept. after 26 years of service as a secretary.

     Ruth is survived by her husband John (Jack) B. Moore, Sr.; two daughters: Brenda Biddle (Rusty), and Kim Fisher (Brian); seven grandchildren: John Biddle, Josh Biddle, Andrew Biddle, Aubrey Ferkler, Emma Board, Benjamin Fisher, and Gabriel Fisher; a great-grandchild, Ellie Board and another one on the way; a sister, Mary Story (Sudler); and a brother, Morris Jones. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a son, John B. Moore, Jr.; two brothers: Leroy Jones, Jr., and Lloyd Jones.

     Friends may visit with the family from 10-11AM on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at St. Luke’s Global Methodist Church 100 S. 5th Ave. Denton, MD 21629. The funeral service will begin at 11AM. Burial will follow in the Green Mount Cemetery in Hillsboro, MD.
