Shirley Ann Carey Burdeaux of Denton, formerly of Crownsville, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 16, 2022. She was 86 years old.
Born in Wilson, NC, Mrs. Burdeaux was the daughter of the late Paul Carey and Pearl Elizabeth Davis Carey. Her husband, William Claude Burdeaux, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Burdeaux had been an elementary teacher for over 30 years at the Crownsville Elementary School. A wonderful mother and grandmother, she loved gardening and eating crabs.
Mrs. Burdeaux is survived by a son, Dave K. Burdeaux of Denton; a sister, Ruth Swanstrom of Ellicott City, MD; a brother, Tony Carey of North Carolina; a daughter-in-law, Dana Burdeaux; three grandchildren: William L. Burdeaux, Angela Burdeaux, and Timothy Burdeaux; three great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by a son, Timothy William Burdeaux.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, January 24th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. Second Street in Denton where friends may visit with the family from 10 until 11 before the service. A private family interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Annapolis.
