Shirley Elizabeth Maloney Trice of Denton, MD, passed away at Compass Hospice in Centreville, MD on Monday, December 29, 2025. She was 92 years old.
Born at home in Williston near Denton on June 27, 1933, Mrs. Trice was the daughter of the late Edward Paul Maloney and Hilda Elizabeth Lord Maloney. Her husband, Francis Herbert “Jukie” Trice, Jr., passed away on February 7, 1987.
Mrs. Trice graduated from Caroline High School in 1951. She began work as a teenager at the Memorial Hospital in Easton before becoming a C&P Manual Operator. She later was a service worker in the Caroline County School System cafeterias, retiring from them after 25 years. She loved to sing in the St. Luke’s UMC Choir, play her piano, cross-stitch, was a member of the Edenton Homemakers; and loved her dog, Nina. An avid traveler, she visited many countries around the world. However, the most important part of her life was her family, all of whom she deeply loved.
Mrs. Trice is survived by two daughters, Sharon T. Marvel (Gary) of Denton and Cynthia J. Mikedakis (Babis) of Folly Beach, SC and Piraeus, Greece; one brother, Rev. Charles Maloney (Miriam) of Shacklefords, VA; a sister, Barbara Ruth Ann Maloney Blazejak (Ronnie) of Denton; a granddaughter, Lindsey Bodnar (Billy) of Denton; a great granddaughter, Brylin Bodnar, and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by two brothers, E. Leon “Sonny” Maloney, W. Emmett Maloney, and a sister, Alice Jane Maloney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 8th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. in Denton where friends may visit from 10 until 11 before the service. The interment will follow at one o’clock at the MD Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock, MD.
