Susan P. Dickinson

     Susan P. Dickinson of Preston, MD, passed away at her home with her loving husband at her side on Saturday, February 13, 2021. She was 74 years old.

     Born in Glen Falls, NY on April 29, 1946, Susan was the daughter of the late Harold Dickinson and Ruth Peabody Dickinson. She and her husband, William (Bill) Schauer, moved to the Eastern Shore twenty-one years ago. Prior to moving to the Eastern Shore, Susan lived in the Mount Royal Terrace neighborhood of Baltimore for 25 years. Susan graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She was an artist, her medium was oil and her style was pointillism. She was intimately involved in the design and installation of custom woodwork in the house she and her husband built on the Choptank River. Prior to that, she was a pastry chef and caterer, and managed the dollar house project in the renovation the Otterbein district in Baltimore city. And she was an animal lover. She belonged to the Wednesday Morning Artists in Cambridge and she and her husband are members of the Third Haven Friends Meeting in Easton where Susan was the clerk of the Hospitality committee and where she created and led First Day Conversations, a bi-weekly Sunday discussion of life and spiritual topics over hot coffee and homemade cream drop biscuits.      In addition to her husband, Susan is survived by two stepchildren, Elizabeth (Beth) Brazitis and her husband, John, of Brighton, Michigan, and Julie Ertmann and her husband, John, of St. Louis, MO, 5 step grandchildren, and Kim Hurlock, a special friend who was like a daughter to her, and three wonderful dogs, and four beautiful cats.

     A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 20th at 2 PM at the Third Haven Friends Meeting House, 405 S. Washington St., Easton, MD 21601.  Due to Covid-19 in person attendance is limited.   A simultaneous Zoom session will be available for those who choose to remain off-site but still want the opportunity to participate in the memorial.
