Sylvia K. Holland

     Sylvia K. Holland of Denton, MD, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, MD. She was 97 (almost 98) years old.

     Born in Easton, MD on January 7, 1927, Mrs. Holland was the daughter of Gottlob H. Klein and Margaret Fix Klein. Her husband, Joseph A. Holland, passed away on January 4, 2008. Mrs. Holland grew up in Denton and was a 1943 graduate of Caroline High School. During WWII, she was a spotter for the Civil Air Patrol. She owned and operated Sylvia’s Beauty Shop in Denton for many years and was Past President and Charter member of both the Choptank River Yacht Club Auxiliary and Denton Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary. An avid Orioles and Ravens fan, she and her husband loved cruising the Choptank River from Suicide Bridge Poor Boy’s Yacht Club and the Chesapeake Bay area; and travelling in their camper with their grandchildren. A wonderful mother and grandmother, she will be deeply missed by her loving family.

     Mrs. Holland is survived by a daughter, Nancy Lynn Miller and her husband, Donald A. “Pete” Miller of Denton; two grandsons, Alan J. Miller of Cordova, MD and J. Kevin Miller and his wife, Joy, of Salisbury, MD; and three great grandchildren: Luke Miller, Jenna Miller, and Aaron Miller. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three siblings.

     The funeral service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, January 9th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 S. Second Street in Denton where friends may visit from 12 until 1 before the service. The interment will follow in Denton Cemetery.
