Theodosia “Theda” Kathryn King Henry of Denton, MD peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Homestead Manor in Denton. She was 89 years old.
Born and raised on a farm in Cooperstown, PA on June 18, 1934, Theda was the daughter of the late James Byers King and Dorothy Louise Lusher King. Her husband, Albert Nelson “Sonny” Henry, who affectionately called her "Kitty", passed away on April 15, 2002. Theda was a bookkeeper for the Peoples Bank of Maryland in Denton for 25 years, retiring in 2005.
Sports were a mainstay in Theda's life. As a young woman she enjoyed participating in the local basketball and bowling leagues. She was an avid fan of all sports, whether it was her children and grandchildren playing baseball, softball, field hockey, tennis, and recently pickleball, or her beloved Baltimore Orioles. Theda's five children kept her busy as a North Caroline High School Band parent and 4-H All Star and leader. An accomplished seamstress, she was a member of the Quilters Guild and the Caroline County Homemakers Club. She was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
Theda is survived by a daughter, Cindy A. Taylor (Chet) of Huntingtown, MD; four sons: Alan B. Henry (Kelly) of Millsboro, DE, Craig E. Henry (Marsha) of Denton, David G. Henry (Reid) of Centreville, MD, and Mark A. Henry (Mary) of Severna Park, MD; four sisters: Mary Schreiber of Easton, Barbara Eaton of Easton, Virginia Kilmon of Easton, and Ruth Anne Rader of Camden, DE; a brother, Charles King of Denton, TX; and 11 grandchildren: Rick Henry, John Henry (Nicole), Tyler Henry, Amber Craig (Mason), Kendall Henry, Brendan Taylor, Connor Taylor (Esther), Natalie Henry, Hunter Mansfield, T.J. Henry, and Kate Henry.
The funeral service will be held at noon on Wednesday, February 7th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton where friends may call from 6-8pm on Tuesday evening and from 11am-12pm on Wednesday before the service. Interment will be in the Denton Cemetery immediately following the service. All are welcome to St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 100 South Fifth Ave. in Denton for refreshments after the service.
