Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Great Aunt Theresa Margaret Curler entered eternal life on July 23, 2024 at 1:05 pm in Denton MD. She was 74 years old.
Born in Pittsburgh PA to Robert Sekely and Margaret Zluky Sekely from Braddock PA, she was raised in Turtle Creek PA with her sister Roberta and brother Bobby where she would attend St. Colman Catholic School from 1st to 8th grade and graduate High school in 1967 from Turtle Creek High School. Theresa married Claude Curler from McKeesport PA and had two children, Christopher born Aug. 8th, 1974 and Tiffane born Aug. 28th 1979. Her children were her world. They meant everything. Theresa divorced in 1980 and stayed in Turtle Creek to raise her two children where they also attended St. Colmans Catholic School.
Theresa was very involved with school and her children. Whether it was chaperoning a school dance, going on a field trip or volunteering in the cafeteria, Theresa was always there. She raised her children to be loving, caring and independent. She was an amazing Mother and taught her kids to always put family first. In 1989 Theresa and her kids moved to Hemet CA where she began her work in the Health Care industry. Theresa loved helping others so it was fitting for her to work in a hospital environment.
Whether it was helping people or animals, Theresa was always there to lend a helping hand. Her and her sister helped rescue, feed and save many, many animals in the area. Whether it was Cats, Dogs, Birds, Lizards etc... It didn't matter if you needed help, Theresa was there. In 1994 Theresa and her sister Roberta bought their first house, they were so proud to have done it on their own. Theresa was a very independent person, if something needed fixed, she bought a book and fixed it. She loved gardening, she loved going outside early in the morning and messing with her garden. Whether she was planting tomatoes, onions or potatoes, she definitely had a green thumb.
She loved to cook and bake. She was known for her Poppy seed cake, Spaghetti and Chicken Paprikash. If you was hungry, Theresa was going to feed you. Whether it was a sandwich or some leftovers you wasn't leaving her house hungry. Theresa wasn't just a mother to her kids, she was a mother to her kids friends as well. Theresa was always there to lend a ear to talk to, give some advice, or just give a hug. She always made you feel special. She was a lover of Elvis and a beautiful artist. That's where her son gets all his artistic talent. As a grandmother she was goofy and always making her grand babies laugh, she was fun and loved to scare you and fool you. She was very involved with her grandkids school. She could be found in her grandkids school on any given day, whether she was helping out, coming down for grandparents day or just coming to lunch and staying the rest of the day, she was always there for them. She genuinely loved to spoil them and feed them. Her grandkids meant everything to her. She would love to sit and sing Elvis to her grandson or roll down the hill with her granddaughter at the park. She always made sure they laughed and felt loved. She was a great Mother but she was an Amazing grandmother. Theresa will always be remembered for her cooking, her wet kisses, her laugh that would end in a snort, her hard hugs, always goofing around and the kindest heart.
Her love and legacy will live on through her children Christopher Curler, Daughter-in-law Michele Curler, Daughter Tiffane Curler Cayton, Son-in-law Josef Cayton, Her six grandchildren Christopher Brad Curler II, Sophie Theresa Nancy Curler, Isabelle Margaret Curler, Gabriel Robert Michael Curler, Harper Ann Cayton and Emily Jo Cayton. Her brother Robert Sekely, two nieces Candice Redshaw and her husband Ray, Autumn Webster and her husband Dan, one nephew Nathan Sekely, and 2 Great Nieces and 1 Great Nephew.
