Thomas R. Filewicz

     Thomas R. Filewicz of Denton, MD, passed away on Monday, August 4. 2025, at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital in Salisbury, MD. He was 81 years old.

     Born in Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Filewicz was the son of the late Alexander A. Filewicz and Elsie M. Redgwick Filewicz. His wife, Charlene C. Filewicz, passed away on June 6, 2021.

     Mr. Filewicz was a 1961 graduate of the Roxborough High School in Roxborough, PA. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he and his family moved to Caroline County from Pennsylvania 46 years ago. He was the Branch Manager of Technitrol manufacturing in Greensboro, MD, retiring in 2002. He was an avid golfer and loved travelling with his wife and family, especially to Williamsburg, VA. However, his greatest joy in life was being a grandfather and a great grandfather.

     Mr. Filewicz is survived by two sons, Thomas A. Filewicz (Linda) of Hebron, MD and Eric C. Filewicz (Courtney) of Ridgely, MD; two daughters, Diane L. Urasz of Preston, MD and Linda M. Echternach (Christopher) of Easton, MD; a brother, Bruce Filewicz of Philadelphia, PA; a sister, Denise Macrina of Absecon, NJ: eight grandchildren: Stephanie Urasz, Kyle Urasz, Nathan Filewicz, Nick Filewicz, Ashton Echternach, Payton Echternach, Paxton Echternach, and Annabelle Filewicz; and three great grandchildren: Penelope Echternach, Lily Filewicz, and Davis Filewicz. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Filewicz, and a sister, Eileen Zabolotny.

     On Tuesday, August 12th, there will be a viewing/visitation from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton. This will be followed by an 11 AM Mass of Chrisitan Burial at the St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Ridgely. The interment will follow in the Denton Cemetery.
