W. Glen Kelley of Denton, MD, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Barnette Center at Compass Hospice in Centreville, MD. Known by his friends as “Kelley”, he was 76 years old.
Born at home near Federalsburg, MD, Mr. Kelley, was the son of the late William Kelley and Helen Nichols Kelley. He was a 1965 graduate of Colonel Richardson High School near Federalsburg. Mr. Kelley was a U.S. Navy veteran. He had worked as an accountant for the Dew Line, Inc. Trucking Company in Federalsburg, MD. He then worked for the Town of Denton for several years before becoming Comptroller of Cabell Corporation in Denton for 27 years before retiring in 2018. He loved baseball from Little League to the Orioles. In addition, he was an annual helper with the Blackwater Honga River Wild Game Dinner.
Mr. Kelley is survived by his wife, Valerie S. Kelley of Denton; two sons, Patrick L. Kelley of Baltimore, MD and Jeremy J. Kelley (Sherrie) of Salisbury, MD; a daughter, Trista A. North of Harrington; three granddaughters: Scarlett Kelley, Ashlyn North, and Kayla North; and a brother, Doug Kelley of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Kelley.
The funeral service will be held at 11:45 am on Tuesday, November 7th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton where friends may call starting at 11. The interment will be in the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock, MD.
He was a man of few words but what few words he said will be remembered by those who heard them.
