William Grant Lynch, Jr. 94, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024, following over 1 ½ years in Polaris Nursing Home, Milford, De. from complications caused by Covid in July 2022.

Born on his father’s 29th birthday, 6/27/29, he was the son of the late William G. Lynch, Sr. and Nettie White Lynch of Queen Anne, Md. Also preceded in death, was his wife of 60 years, Florence Wetsell Lynch, daughter Margaret (Peggy) Lynch Lepkowski Morris, and his sister, Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Lynch Walls.

Bill, better known as Sonny or Poppy to his family & friends, lived most of his life in Queen Annes County, Md. Raised on a farm; he was a dairy/grain farmer, then a chicken farmer in his later years. He enjoyed serving on many dairy farm and chicken farm organizations.

He loved horses and was a well accomplished rider in jousting tournaments for 30 years, resulted in winning every jousting tournament on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, some on the Western Shore & Delaware in the Professional Class. He loved gardening, baseball, playing cards, coaching softball, hunting, and training his dogs. He enjoyed Country music and loved to dance. He was very generous to those less fortunate. He would share his last piece of bread if someone needed it.

He is survived by his two daughters, Diane L. Coyle of Lovettsville, Va. and Carolyn L. Spiezio (Tom) of Dagsboro, De.; his son, William G. Lynch III., (Christi) of Henderson, MD; and his sister, Barbara Lynch Moore of Centreville, MD. He was “Poppy” to 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grand children and 1 gg grandchild. Also, very special to him in the last few years was Grafton Butler of Sudlersville, Md. and Sandy Melvin from Delaware.

In his honor, we request donations be made to Sudlersville Senior Center, Pickin & Grinnin, 605 Foxxtown Drive, Sudlersville, Md. 21668. He enjoyed going to this dance and listening to the music every Thursday for years. He wanted to make sure they never closed their doors, so others can enjoy it like he did.
